I’ve had many women walk up to me in church and say, “The Lord told me to talk to you... ” and I thought to myself... was she sent, or did she went?

That brings up an interesting question -- was the sin of Sodom & Gomorrah homosexuality, or was it lack of hospitality?  Some theologians have questioned whether the problem was a breach in the ancient middle-eastern protocol of treating strangers with a certain modicum of hospitality.

Not to hold one view over another... just thought I would bring up the question.

I've already posted my response, but when I asked a friend for his opinion, he wrote the following which is worth consideration:

Many pastors would dissagree with my answer but I think he should definately go to the "wedding" out of love for his son. I believe Jesus would have attended such an event but he would have gently spoken truth and healing to those in attendance if he was given the opporunity. As Brandon should.

As a pastor and believer in the Word of God, I would make a stand on a couple other things

1. I would not view it as a "wedding" in the spiritual or church-sactioned sort of way. It is more of a 'state allowed civil union'. Such a union would provide much needed benefits for his partner in times of crisis. But for believers, marriage is between a man and a woman as created by God, maintained for over 5,000 years, and described so clearly in scripture.

2. I would continue to maintain homosexuality as a sin and not try to modernize scripture or water down its harsh truth. It is a sin his son is willingly entering in the same way you and I willingly hold onto our own sins. We all need the grace of God and we are all dependant upon his sacrifice on the cross and his ministry today.

In essence, because the relationship with his son is so important, I think he should go and show his love and support for his son. But he should not support it as a "marriage" and he should not depart from the reality that it is sin. He should keep himself in position of a loving and godly man who stands by truth no matter the cost. It is a delicate balance in such situations but it can be done I think.

Joe Huguenard

Hi Brandon,

This story sounds a lot like me 21 years ago when
I married my first wife. It lasted less than 9 months.

I learned a great lesson from that experience, did
a lot of praying and soul searching and found my
beautiful wife, now of 17 years, a few months later.

My wife and I have a beautiful Christian relationship
supported by Gods Love and Grace and we couldn't be
happier, even after being together for over 19 years.

God Does answer Prayers and he does know exactly
what we want and need, but we do have to accept his
will as to when we will be blessed with those wants
and needs.

God is always Good,

Joe Huguenard

One day JoJo saw a woman he had to have! She was sitting on the fifth pew at a church JoJo was visiting. She was exceptionally beautiful! JoJo could not take his eyes off of her! Her name was Shaquita and Shaquita thought she had it going on! She had the attitude to match her beauty! So JoJo courted Shaquita and after a year of courting they got married. But there was a problem. See, while JoJo was courting Shaquita there were warning signs that showed that Shaquita was not right for him. Shaquita always had an attitude and she was a gold digger! She knew she was beautiful and would take advantage of that by flirting with other guys behind JoJo's back. JoJo went through many arguments about these things with Shaquita, but married her anyway. Eventually, a few months later, Shaquita and JoJo were divorced. What happened?

This is a tough question. If it was me, I would go to the wedding and keep loving my son and his partner and keep proclaiming God's love for both of them. Would you go to a wedding of two non-believers? Or to a wedding of people you knew were living in open sin? We are to let God deal with the heart.

Well, if it was an "ok" thing. . then God would have to apologize to Sodom & Gomarrah - that is the VERY thing that God Destroyed an entire city over!! I'd show him again that story. - And also, That was ONE of the reasons God destroyed the ENTIRE world with the Flood back in Noah's day!

If I was in your situation. . I'd let him know all of this, and then tell him since what he is doing is SIN then when he descides on getting out of the SIN then and only then would I attend his wedding. God made MAN & and then WOMAN! not man and man - woman and woman! Even the ANIMALS on this planet have better since.

Personally, I believe that by attending the wedding,
you're not necessarily supporting the sin, only your
own son.

It's not our job as Christians to judge others, it's
Gods Job. Remember, he did give us all "Free Will" so
if your son chooses a life unacceptable to you, he is
the one who has to live with Gods Judgement when that
time comes.

I would have a very serious talk with my son about
the spiritual and emotional consequenses of such a
decision, but the ultimate decision has to be that
of the son.

I don't believe in the gay lifestyle myself and I
pray my sons never choose it for their own lifestyle,
but if it were to occur, I'd have to live with it and
pray for the Grace to accept it, not support it.

God Bless Us All,

Joe Huguenard

08/25/04Brandon Bracey's Word Of Devotion For 8/25/04: We Are Gods. #

Brandon Bracey

Devotion Title: We Are Gods
Scripture, Amplified Bible: Psalm 82:6: " I said, You are gods ( since you judge on My behalf, as My representatives); indeed, all of you are children of the Most High."

As I was doing my study in a particular book this week, I came across something that shocked me! I could not believe what I was seeing ! When I saw this verse it sent shivers up my spine! Am I actually reading this? The verse is found in Psalm 82 :6 and it said we are gods! What! I am a god! This is unscriptural! But on the other hand it is scriptural because it is in the Bible! Oh no, what is going on here!

I read this verse again so I could get a full understanding of it. I am saying to myself, "Brandon Bracey is a god??? But there is only one God. How can I be a god? Then after more studying I received the revelation.

The fact is that the Bible says in Genesis 1:26, " God said, Let Us( Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the ( tame) beasts, and over all the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth". God has made us in his likeness and given each of us free will as a reflection of his nature. God has also given us dominion ( or authority) over the earth. God created us to be his offspring. So therefore, God calls us " little gods". Not only are we made in God's image but we have authority over the earth, as God has in heaven. Also the free will we have allows us to dictate how things will go on earth and man is meant to reflect the loving and creative spirit of God here on earth. God created mankind with a sovereign will and with creative _expression.

This shows me that God's plan for creation is that God rules the unseen realm in heaven, while we rule the visible realm which is earth. But yet man and God can still enjoy continual communing through their spirit natures, since God is a spirit and we are made in the image of God and we are spirits that have a physical body( which makes it legal for us to be on earth) and a soul( our mind, will, and emotions).

This does not in any way mean that we are equal to God or that we are deity. The only way we can fulfill our purpose in life is relying on and being in constant communion with our Creator. When we rely on our creator as our source, then and only then can we accomplish the purpose for which God has called us to on earth. God does not want man to work for him , but rather with him. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 6:1 that we are workers together with him. We were not created to be God's servants, but his sons and daughters who are happily and joyfully involved in running the family business! So by us being called little gods and being God's offspring, God is saying to us," Let me rule and work through you so you can enjoy, cherish, and share in my governance."

Unfortunately, man has been influenced by the enemy and has often made poor choices which has corrupted the earth. But we who commune with God, who are his children, must take a stand. We must continue to pray, continue to be God's moral agents in the earth, and continue to commune with God and stay close to God. When God's people take a stand individually and corporately then God can move on our behalf in the spirit realm. Amen!

Heavenly Father, You are the Creator of the Heavens and Earth. You are God all by yourself. There is none like you. You have called me to an inheritance in the family business of ruling over the earth, as you do in heaven. I am your offspring and my desire is to do your purpose and will on this earth and to reflect your nature. Father you are loving and caring and I want to be just like you. Thank you Father for trusting me enough to use me for your divine purpose in Jesus name Amen.

You may have read this and would like to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life. If this is you please pray with me: Lord Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart. I need you now. I can not go on without you Jesus. Please forgive me for all my wrongdoing and I accept you into my heart and make you my Lord and Savior. Thank you for saving me. Amen. If you have just prayed this prayer congratulations! Welcome to the family of God! You are born-again and have a brand new beginning! Yes go. Although I personally disagree with it both from a biblical and personal standpoint, your son is going to do this anyway and you not going will accomplish nothing. God knows your sincere desire to live by His word.

Wouldn't He view your presence at this event as not supporting sin, but supporting your son? Prayer will provide your answer.......
